Snowflake Acquires Night Shift Development, Inc. to Accelerate Growth in US Public Sector

Data is increasingly becoming critical for the public sector — from guiding decisions in higher education to enhancing citizen services and streamlining government operations. Government agencies are overwhelmed with data, whether it be structured, like incident logs, or unstructured, like satellite images. Harnessing the vast amount of data can become a burden for any organization, yet the insights have the potential to significantly improve quality of life and strengthen national security.

Today, we are pleased to announce that Snowflake has acquired Night Shift Development, Inc., a bootstrapped data analytics firm focused on the U.S. public sector, to complement Snowflake’s ongoing investment in enabling more informed decision-making across government agencies.

Night Shift Development, Inc was founded by CEO Tim Tutt, a well-regarded data leader focused on serving the U.S. national security community, and COO Drew Hayes, a data and systems engineering expert with nearly two decades of experience serving the U.S. national security community.

“The visions that drive Night Shift and Snowflake are very aligned, and I am immensely excited about this next step in our journey and what it means for how we get to continue building great things under the Snowflake umbrella,” Tutt says.

As a result of this acquisition, Snowflake will have a dedicated entity focused on the U.S. public sector, allowing us to work with public sector organizations in new ways. Paired with Snowflake’s secure and governed platform, public sector institutions can expect even higher standards of data protection.
